The villa Le Petit Château: a tale of luxury and heritage

Nestled in a lush green setting, the Villa Le Petit Château, formerly known as Villa Iris, stands as a living testament to the history and elegance of the Côte d'Azur. Built in 1925, this iconic villa was part of a larger complex developed around an ancient stone quarry. In the 1920s, the Danish entrepreneur Mr. Von Wessel acquired this land, transforming it into a fortified village surrounded by tall stone walls, where nobility could retreat and rejuvenate.

The legacy of Villa Petit Château is as captivating as its architecture. After Mr. Von Wessel passed away in Switzerland in 1946, the villa was bequeathed to his friend, Princess Margarethe of Denmark. For several summers, the princess, and other noble families, including the Bourbons of France, graced this idyllic retreat, appreciating its stunning beauty.

Over the decades, the expansive property was divided and sold off in various lots. In the 1970s, Madame Staub married to Monsieur Keller, already the owner of the famous Villa Nellcote, purchased the villa, which she later bequeathed to her goddaughter, who had no children. In 2000, this goddaughter put the villa up for sale, marking the beginning of a new chapter for this historic property.

Acquired by an Italian family in 2000, Villa Petit Château underwent partial renovations that honored its original charm. Internal modifications made in the 1970s were carefully removed, restoring the villa's historical structure and aesthetic. Today, Villa Petit Château embodies the perfect harmony of history and modernity, offering an exceptional living environment on the Côte d'Azur.
